October 19th, 2010 PAC-6 Championship @ Riverside 80 and Sunny 5000 meters
Girls’ Results
Score:
Team Stats: 1-5 Gap: 2 minutes and 1 second (Good gracious this is BIG ) You ladies did a wonderful job of competing today. I was very pleased with how all of you battled. Your respect for the opponent was only that – just respect. – not awe. That is a good way to approach a meet like this. There were two All-Conference performances run by Kathryn Greenwell and Michaela Woodmansee. ECH is a very strong team, but you did a great job of racing against them. It is my belief we can compete with them in the future, but only if our training is equal to or better than theirs. Until we train like champions, we will never be champs of the PAC-6. Racing well on championship day is a by-product of excellent training. We have to work harder to earn others’ respect. Relying on sure talent is insufficient. Relying on natural talent is not worthy of others’ respect. Redefine yourselves over the next year by developing yourself through challenging training. If you want to be better, if you want to be at your best, then you must train like the best. Maximize your potential and find your hidden talents by training with purpose and passion in the weeks and months to come.
Special thanks to Kathryn Greenwell, Julia Oas and Sarah Hayes. Our program has benefitted from your performances, but more so from your presence. You have contributed (in different ways) to a healthy and fun practice environment. Best of luck down the road, ladies. |
